FUND DRIVE

We do some very important things for our community, but importantly we save lives. The members of the squad spend a lot of time and effort to give back to the community. Fortunately the community appreciates this and gives back to the squad. The monies collected go for equipment and training. Our budget comes mostly from the fund drive and we thank you for giving. Unfortunately equipment wears out or becomes outdated so we need to keep asking. Nassau County protocols for ALS emergency medical service will soon call for 12 lead EKG, we currently use 3 lead device - if the county protocols mandate the use of 12 lead device and we have 3 lead we will no longer be able to serve the community with ALS( advanced life saving) service and only offer BLS (basic lifesaving). This will inhibit the use of certain medications and procedures that will save lives in the event of cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest and heart attacks. The device costs approximately $18,000 almost 1/3 of our entire annual budget.
